Who we are
Our website address is: https://men-of-valor.org
Comments
When visitors leave comments on the site we collect the data shown in the comments form, and also the visitor’s IP address and browser user agent string to help spam detection.
An anonymized string created from your email address (also called a hash) may be provided to the Gravatar service to see if you are using it. The Gravatar service privacy policy is available here: https://automattic.com/privacy/. After approval of your comment, your profile picture is visible to the public in the context of your comment.
Media
If you upload images to the website, you should avoid uploading images with embedded location data (EXIF GPS) included. Visitors to the website can download and extract any location data from images on the website.
Cookies
If you leave a comment on our site, you may choose to save your name, email address, and website in cookies. This is for your convenience, so you don’t have to re-enter your details when leaving another comment. These cookies will last for one year.
If you edit or publish content on our site (for example, blog articles), a cookie may be saved in your browser indicating the post ID of the article you edited. This cookie contains no personal data and expires after one day.
Embedded content from other websites
Articles on this site may include embedded content (e.g., videos, images, articles, etc.). Embedded content from other websites behaves just like visiting the other site directly.
These sites may collect data about you, use cookies, embed third-party tracking, and monitor your interaction with their content—especially if you have an account and are logged into their platform.
Who we share your data with
If you request a password reset through any of our partner platforms (e.g., donation processors), your IP address may be included in the reset email as a security measure. Men of Valor does not directly manage any user login system on our website.
How long we retain your data
If you leave a comment, both the comment and its metadata are stored indefinitely. This helps us recognize and approve follow-up comments automatically.
If you sign up for our newsletter, contact us through a form, or make a donation, we may retain your submitted data (e.g., name, email address) for communication, tax, or recordkeeping purposes, unless you request deletion.
What rights you have over your data
If you’ve left comments, made a donation, or signed up for email communication, you can request an exported file of the personal data we hold about you. You can also request that we erase any personal data we have—excluding data we are required to retain for administrative, legal, or financial purposes.
Where your data is sent
Visitor comments may be checked through an automated spam detection service.
Donation Privacy
When you make a donation to Men of Valor, we collect personal information such as your name, email address, mailing address, and payment details. This information is used solely to process your donation, issue tax receipts, and communicate your impact.
We do not sell, rent, or share your personal or financial information with third parties for marketing. Payments are securely processed through trusted third-party gateways (e.g., EveryAction, Stripe, PayPal) which comply with industry-standard encryption and data protection. We do not store full credit card information on our servers.
You may opt in or out of donor communications at any time.
