Today he lives in an environment at Men of Valor that is filled with love, encouragement, and hope. “I have peace now because I know the Prince of Peace through a personal relationship, and that is my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Throughout his life Lance suffered from anxiety. He always felt the need to help others and be a hero, but battling for control of his life left him missing out on God’s beautiful moments. “God had his plan for me and I had to accept it on his terms and his time.” Lance realized he had been trying to fix others when he needed to fix himself and his relationship with God first.

Before coming to Men of Valor, Leo did not understand self-control.  He was using drugs and every bit of his money went to supplying his addiction. This lifestyle eventually left Leo with nothing. “I have developed a relationship with God since joining Men of Valor.” Now, Leo has been employed for over a year and has money, earned honestly, to support himself.

Growing up Lewis did not know what true love was. He saw entanglement in his parents’ relationship and began to drift further away from love, and closer to lust and manipulation. While incarcerated, God worked to bring Lewis closer and led him to Men of Valor where we could show him love and hold him accountable for his actions. Lewis shares he is not the same person he was 20 years ago or even 36 months ago. “Love has changed me for the better,” says Lewis.

“It is only because of the goodness of the Lord that I am standing here today.” The day Malcom was released from prison he was able to drive to Portland, TN for his father’s funeral visitation. When Malcom was introduced to Men of Valor he was shown God’s goodness through love. “We all have that same goodness in us because we share the goodness of Christ.”

Matt grew up in a rough neighborhood were getting into physical fights daily was the norm. He felt no sense of gentleness. Since being with us at Men of Valor, Matt sees there is another way to live life. Now, the people he grew up with are more receptive to the Christ-like changes in his personality and are loving him for all the right reasons. “I am a gentle spirit of God,” says Matt.

Before he came to Men of Valor, Sherrod prayed for a place that would draw him closer to God. Sherrod met Tommy Mathis while in prison and learned more about Men of Valor. He was accepted into our programming and has been at Valor Ridge ever since. “The Faithfulness of God in his word and returning to God has been the greatest joy of my life,” says Sherrod.
