Position: Accounting Specialist

Position Overview

Love and encourage Men of Valor staff, volunteers, and participants in such a way that reflects and honors Christ.  Work closely with accountant and Finance & Administration Director to ensure accuracy in all financial reporting.  Support financial reporting across the organization.

The Accounting Specialist will report to our Finance & Administration Director and will be a remote worker reporting to our Valor Ridge campus in Antioch, TN.

Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities

  • Monitor financial activity in general ledger accounts for accuracy and for budget compliance.
  • Provide cashflow forecasting support for the executive team.
  • Track and report grant revenues and expenses.
  • Provide support for the annual compliance audit and any other audits or monitoring that may arise.
  • Support the development of the annual budget.
  • Provide administrative support as needed.
  • Other duties as needed or assigned.

  • High proficiency with QuickBooks Online and Microsoft Office Suite, especially in Excel and Word.
  • Proficiency with advanced functions in Microsoft Excel (e.g., PIVOT tables, SUMIF and LOOKUP formulas, conditional formatting, etc.).
  • Proficiency with standard office equipment, Google, Microsoft Teams, OneDrive, and other related applications. Use of these tools will be required.


  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred, with accounting or finance degree a plus.
  • 3-5 years of relevant work experience as an Accounting Specialist or similar role; non-profit or grant experience is a plus.
  • A valid driver’s license and current personal automobile insurance.
  • Minimum travel requirements to attend ministry events, fundraisers, trainings, and meetings.

Compensation and Benefits

  • Target Salary: $55,000 – $70,000, depending on qualifications
